The roof rises in stages to a clerestory which adds scale to the building. Cossack Courthouse was completed after Cossack had begun declining as a pearl shell base port in favour of Broome, and now contains the Social History Museum. Cossack never recovered prosperity and this is one of a handful of permanent buildings in the town.
